Emily Monson (SR/Cheney) was selected as the KCAC Volleyball Defender of the Year for a second straight season, headlining the five Kansas Wesleyan volleyball All-Kansas Conference selections as selected by conference coaches and released by the conference office.
Three Coyotes were named to the first-team led by Monson, along with Elizabeth Hardacre (JR/Kensington) and Morgan Bryand (JR/Wichita). Malia Mack (JR/Joplin) was named to the second-team and Josie Deckinger (SO/Wichita) was named to the third-team.
Monson earned a repeat performance as KCAC Defender of the Year, averaging 6.07 digs per set on the season, and upped her average to 6.44 digs per set in conference play. She also ranks seventh in the NAIA in digs per set and No. 16 in total digs. Earlier this season, Monson became to career leader in digs per set and total digs in KWU history.
Hardacre averaged 2.76 kills and 1.05 blocks per set for the Coyotes from her middle hitter position, earning first-team honors. Her .325 hitting efficiency ranked fourth in the KCAC. She ranked second in the KCAC in blocks per set. She ranked in the Top 40 in blocks per set and hitting efficiency in the NAIA.
Bryand averaged 2.85 kills per set for the Coyotes and had a .278 hitting efficiency overall. She also averaged .70 blocks per set and had 10 service aces. She ranked sixth in the KCAC in hitting efficiency and No. 13 in kills per set.
Mack led the KCAC in blocks, averaging 1.14 blocks per set. She also averaged 1.43 kills per set and a .143 attack percentage on the season.
Deckinger was one of the top setters in the KCAC, among those teams running a 6-2 (2 setter) offense. She averaged 6.59 assists per set on the season which ranked ninth among all setters, and third among setters running a 6-2 offense. She also averaged 1.89 digs per set and had 34 service aces, which ranked seventh in the KCAC.
Kansas Wesleyan finished the 2021 season with a 21-9 overall record and a 9-3 record in KCAC play. The Coyotes had an 11-match winning streak during the season, which included eight straight, straight-set victories.
