The Southeast of Saline volleyball team finished their regular season 15-15 but found themselves as the six-seed at sub-state facing down the 27-6 Council Grove Braves.
The Braves waltzed in and took set one convincingly, defeating the Trojans 25-15, but SES battled back, winning the second and third sets 25-20 to eliminate the Braves.
Earlier that day, Wichita Trinity dominated the host school in Halstead, sweeping the Dragons with wins of 25-9 and 25-16.
The Trojans now turned their attention to the two-seeded Knights, who entered sub-state at 29-5.
Southeast fought valiantly but fell in straight sets to Wichita Trinity by scores of 25-20 and 26-24.
In their final day of action, SES was led by Lexi Jacobson who turned in an impressive 20-kill performance.
The Trojans finish their season with an overall record of 16-16, and continue trending in the right direction as a program.
Southeast will graduate five seniors in Karsyn Schlesener, Ashlyn Johnson, Ivie Douglas, Meaghan Roths and Morgan Albrecht, but will return plenty of key contributors in what should be a great 2021 season.
