Need to escape the heat? The Salina YMCA is the place to be.
Salina YMCA President/CEO Angie Lassley told Salina Post that due to the consistent high temperatures, the Salina YMCA will serve as a cooling center for folks needing to escape the heat.
"It's been a couple of years since we've needed to do this, but we have done this in the past," Lassley said. " We have a large enough facility that we can accommodate people in different areas to relax and cool off."
The YMCA Cooling Center will be open from 4:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Water will also be available.
"We do check all photo IDs," Lassley said "This is required for anyone over 18. They will be added to our system and checked against the sex offender screening prior to access."
