Bring your questions and enthusiasm to a "Speed Dating with the Candidates" event planned by the Salina League of Women Voters with candidates for the Salina City Commission and USD 305 School Board.
Salina LWV League President Lori Trow said the event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the multipurpose building of Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit.
The program will follow the speed dating format, which offers candidates and voters the opportunity to quickly meet, ask questions and exchange ideas. Candidates will answer questions with those sitting at a table for 10 minutes, then move to the next table, and the next, until they meet with people at all tables in the room.
Candidates will also make opening and closing statements and may meet individually with citizens afterward.
Salina LWV League President Lori Trow said "Speed Dating with the Candidates" is a departure from past Salina league forums and has been used by other Kansas leagues with great success. She said the names of candidates invited to the Salina event will be on the Nov. 7 general election ballot.
