Two teens caught stealing a vehicle and breaking into others, before arrest.
According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on May 24 at around 3:30 pm, officers came in contact with a 55-year-old male, who reported his 2013 black Dodge Challenger was stolen.
Reportedly, the vehicle stolen was between 8:00 pm on May 22 and 10:00 am on May 23, from his residence in north Salina. The vehicle was later located in the parking lot of the Airliner Motel, 781 N. Broadway.
Then on May 25 at about 1:00 am, officers responded to the 700 block of Gypsum in reference of subjects going through vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers located a Dakota Cottrell, 19, of Delphos, KS, and Brycen Tyler, 19, of Salina.
It was determined they entered a 2007 KIA Sorento. Missing from the Sorento was two vapes, and over $20 in cash.\
Located inside the vehicle were items, which did not belong to the owner of the KIA. It was also reported they entered a 2013 Ford Taurus in the same area.
While officers were searching Cottrell during the arrest, the key to the stolen Dodge Challenger was located on him. Both were booked into the Saline County Jail in reference to Vehicle Burglary and Theft.
