Joyce Lorraine Groke, age 61, of McPherson, Kansas, died Saturday morning, December 11, 2021, at Disability Supports of the Great Plains, McPherson, Kansas.

She was born May 18th, 1960, in McPherson Kansas, to Dorothea M. and Albert H. Groke Sr.

Joyce was a Christian and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McPherson, Kansas. She was a creative, loving sister and aunt who had a hug for everyone she met whether stranger or friend. She loved babies and priests. She enjoyed coloring in her many coloring books using a jumbo set of colors, putting together puzzles and watching her favorite movies stars “The Three Stooges”. She was also known for her extensive watch collection, keeping her brother Al buying batteries! She also liked going out to eat, especially pancakes with lots of butter and syrup after Sunday mass with her brother Al, and if you’re buying all the better.
In 1987 Joyce traveled to Dallas, Texas to participate with the Tall Texans of Dallas in the “Hoop-It-Up” Fund Raiser for the Special Olympics. She also enjoys being an athlete in the Special Olympics.

Joyce worked for McPherson County Diversified Services, Pizza Hut and Clayworks. At Clayworks she put her creative talent to use handcrafting products for purchase.

She was a 25-year breast cancer survivor.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothea Groke, her father Albert Groke Sr., her stepmother, Virginia Wagner, Phillip Wagner, Elena Guthals, and Dave Wagner. She is survived by: Ted Groke, Mary Lou Waitzman, Herb Groke, Al Groke, Margaret Parker, Jane Van Bunnen, Ken Wagner, Kathleen Denney, and Mike Wagner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Rosary will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.
