About AAUW
The American Association of University Women began in 1881 when a small group of female college graduates came together to advance women's careers and encourage higher education for women. AAUW has played a significant role in the progress of women in the United States, supporting the academic achievements of many scholars and contributing to the passing of laws like the Equal Pay Act, the Title IX amendment, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Paycheck Fairness Act.
