Thief swaps PVC pipe for Salina resident's property

A Salina man returned home late Wednesday afternoon to find that someone had swapped two pieces of PVC pipe for approximately $3,500 of his property.

Officers were sent to the 300 block of N. Kansas Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for the report of a residential burglary, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. A 40-year-old Salina man told police that sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., while he was away, someone broke into his residence and stole the following items.

●An HP laptop

●An iPad

●A Harbor Freight gun safe with silver coins in it

●Multiple DeWalt cordless power tools

Total loss was estimated at $3,500.

The man told police that when he got home, he noticed items on his front porch that did not belong to him, Forrester said. As the man was entering the front door, he found two pieces of PVC pipe that did not belong to him
