The incident in which a motorcycle was allegedly stolen from a downtown parking lot Thursday night has turned out to be a prank.

On Friday, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus reported that late Thursday night, a 37-year-old Salina man reported that his black 2000 Suzuki VZ800Y Marauder motorcycle had been stolen from a parking lot in the 100 block of North Seventh Street. A bit later, the man and a police officer located the motorcycle a half block to the west in the alley between the 100 block of North Eighth Street and the 100 block of North Seventh Street.

This afternoon, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester confirmed to Salina Post that the incident was nothing more than a prank.

"Victim reported later he was pranked by a friend and it was not stolen," Forrester noted.
