Doris’ life began on September 28, 1934, in Tampa, KS. She is the daughter of Heinrich Fredrick Karl and Mathilde (Bielefeld) Mueller.
Doris moved to Wichita in 1952 and worked in accounting for the Peterson, Peterson and Goss CPAs.
She was united in marriage to Richard L. Ott on April 28, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tampa. The young couple resided in Wichita and owned and operated Rick’s Appliance Service since 1964. Rick and Doris moved to Table Rock Lake in 1987.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Shell Knob and enjoyed life at Table Rock Lake, especially water skiing.
She was very giving of her time with warmth, a kind smile, and a sense of humor. She spent hours preparing and serving many soup/chili suppers as fundraisers for various community causes.
Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband of 63 years Richard Ott, two children Darryl (Marc Turman) Ott, and Brenda (Todd) Devaney; granddaughter Christina (Rick) Nelson and two great-grandchildren Theodore and Nora Nelson; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Ruth Mueller.
Doris passed away on November 28, 2022, in McAllen, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Arnold (Edna) Mueller, Eric (Kathryn) Mueller, Werner (Maxine) Mueller, Lloyd (Phyllis) Mueller, Arthur Mueller, Lawrence Mueller; sisters Alice (Ed) Winter, Agnes (Wilbur) Steinert, and Paula (Warren) Fike.
Doris’ family will gather with friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tampa. She will be laid to rest in the Tampa Lutheran Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
