Several local and area players are among those selected to play in the 2022 Kansas Shrine Bowl.
The 49th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 23 in Pittsburg State University's Carnie Smith Stadium.
Players from our area who were selected for the game include the following.
Braxton Bailey, 6'4", 308 pounds, McPherson High School
Kayson Dietz, 6'1", 290 pounds, Salina South High School
Jace Doerksen, 6'0", 175 pounds, Inman High School
Jaxon Kolzow, 5'11", 175 pounds, Salina Central High School
Haven Lysell-Stewart, 6'3", 215 pounds, Smoky Valley High School
Dalton Owen, 6'3", 300 pounds, Concordia High School
Chase Poague, 6'1", 170 pounds, Southeast of Saline High School
Matthew Potucek, 6'0", 190 pounds, Hillsboro High School
Matthew Rodriguez, 5'10", 195 pounds, Southeast of Saline
Colt Sell, 6'1", 280 pounds, Chapman High School
Tyson Struber, 6'2", 200 pounds, Canton Galva High School
Brennan Walker, 6'3", 200 pounds, Beloit High School
"We are very excited about the West squad, said West Head Coach Troy Black. “The coaches feel we have a very athletic, tough, and physical football team. We feel it is a great group of young men who are great players, but also great men and they are a group that truly understands the purpose of this game and what they are really playing for."
Assistant coaches for the West team include Ene Akpan (6A – Wichita East), Tony Crough (5A – Hays), Steve Warner (4A – Buhler), Jordan Echer (3A – Concordia), Brad Gober (2A – Beloit) and Lance Sawyer (1A – Inman).
