Obituary | Ruth Ellen Rugg of Minneapolis, Kansas | Wilson Family Funeral Home
October 12, 1932 - April 7, 2022
Ruth Ellen Rugg was born October 12, 1932, in Lamar, Colorado to Lawrence and Myrtle (Coleman) Stickler. She passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Minneapolis.
She grew up on a farm near Scottsville, Kansas and graduated from high school in Scottsville.
Ruth married her high school sweetheart Jerry Rugg on August 31, 1950. She and Jerry lived in California while he was stationed in the United States Air Force, and they later moved to Grand Island, NE. and Ruth attended business college and worked for Equitable Bank and Trust. Along with working at the bank, she and her husband owned and operated a quaint little place called "Jerrys Lounge."
After retirement and the death of her husband, Ruth moved to Minneapolis to be close to family. After her move to Minneapolis, Ruthie enjoyed time with her nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Ruth was adventurous. She loved to travel, cooking, baking, country and western concerts, bowling, camping, fishing, sewing and crafts, horse races, gambling, the Colorado mountains and cold Coors Light....in a bottle.
Ruth will always be remembered for many things- her VERY large pig collection which she also called "her family." Her contagious, straight from the diaphragm belly laugh, speaking her mind and also her caring and kindness.
Ruth was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and then later the Cowboy Church.
Memories will be treasured by all who knew her.
Ruth has joined many loved ones in heaven. Her husband Jerry Rugg, parents Lawrence and Myrtle Stickler, grandmother Pearl Coleman, sister Opal Crouch, brother-in-law Raymond Crouch; great-niece Ella Grace Fuller, and great-nephew, Ethan Johnson.
Ruth leaves behind three nieces and nephews, Vicky Adams and Lester Locke, Lisa and Darin Johnson, and LaQuita and Carl Whitesell; great-nieces and nephews Brandon and Kim Fuller, Trevor Fuller, Shilo and Darren Nichols, Tara Villapando, Heather and Steve Haley, Kelly and Nathan Varnadore, Rachelle and Jack Akin, Cole Thomas, Ashleigh Thomas and Jon, and Sheridan Johnson; plus numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
