The Sacred Heart Knights will open their 2021 postseason on the road as the team travels to face the Conway Springs Cardinals.
Conway Springs enters this game at 6-2 while Sacred Heart comes in looking for their first win of the season at 0-8.
The two did share a pair of common opponents in Wichita Independent and Ellinwood. Both were defeated by the Cardinals and beat Sacred Heart in the Knight’s two closest losses of the season.
Sacred Heart faces an uphill battle against a Cardinals team that has outscored their opponents 318-83 this season, pitching four shutouts along the way.
Conway Springs is led by dual-threat quarterback Izac Billups, who has tallied 609 yards through the air, 612 on the ground, and 18 total touchdowns to just one interception this season.
Billups is joined in the backfield by sophomore running back Brayden Kunz, who is averaging an unheard of 10 yards per carry this season in addition to his 13 rushing touchdowns in eight games.
Billups has also been a standout on defense, accounting for two of the secondary’s five interceptions this season.
The winner of this matchup will advance to face either 5-3 Plainville or 1-6 Sublette next week.
