Kansas Wesleyan softball hosted the Briar Cliff Chargers on Saturday in a doubleheader, as the teams split the doubleheader with Briar Cliff winning the first game 2-0 and the Coyotes taking the second on a walkoff hit by Bailey Rivas (SR/La Puente, Calif.).

in the bottom of the first, and Tiffani Alaniz (FR/Sebastian, Texas) made it 3-0 Coyotes after an inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Mia Hernandez (SO/Hanford, Calif.).

After BCU scored once in the second, the Coyotes added two more in the third on a 2-run homer by Hernandez.

Briar Cliff got five runs on the board in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead, but a RBI single by Alaniz tied things up in the bottom of the inning.

Ollevia Lowe led off the Coyote seventh with a walk and moved to second on Josie Buhr (JR/Buffalo, N.D.)'s sacrifice bunt. That set up Rivas' RBI single to left that allowed Lowe to score from second for the game winning run.

Miranda Fogal (JR/Monticello, Ill.) got the win in relief, holding Briar Cliff to one hit in an inning and a third.

The opener went extra innings, with Briar Cliff scoring twice in the eighth for the 2-0 win.

Miranda Fogal was stellar in the circle for the Coyotes in the circle, pitching a complete game with 13 strikeouts.

KWU's bats struggled in the opener, only recording one hit by Jocelyn Alcala (JR/Fullerton, Calif.) in the fifth.

The Coyotes are back in action on Sunday, hosting Doane (Neb.) at noon at Salina South High School.
