Salina Police Department officers are investigating an aggravated assault with a weapon and an aggravated burglary that occurred Thursday afternoon in Salina at an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Hageman Avenue
According to SPD Capt. Mike Miller, officers were dispatched to the location around 12:05 p.m. after a female resident reported that a male suspect kicked in the front door and entered the residence while brandishing a handgun.
The suspect was looking for another male resident who was not present at the time. Authorities believe the confrontation was related to a property issue, though specific details about the dispute remain unclear.
According to Capt. Miller the report is not yet complete.
A second male, who was inside the apartment at the time, helped de-escalate the situation along with the female resident. Eventually, they persuaded the suspect to leave without further incident.
SPD say the suspect is known to the individuals involved and that officers are working to locate him.
The female resident appeared visibly shaken and was unable to provide full details about what was said during the encounter. No injuries were reported.
