Janice Elizabeth (Christiason) Masters, 76, of Council Grove, KS died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital, Manhattan, Kansas.

She was born November 23, 1947 in Barclay, Kansas the daughter of Homer Allen Christiason and Lucille Irene (Davis) Christiason.  She grew up in Osage City graduating from Osage City High School with the class of 1965. 

On December 5, 1975, Janice was united in marriage to Jimmie Marshall Masters in Council Grove, Kansas. They enjoyed 45 years of loving marriage and travelling to places like Colorado, Alaska on a cruise, Coolidge, AZ, and Germany until Jimmie’s passing on March 27, 2021.  They loved being snow birds and being in Arizona or out west during the winter months.  

Janice worked as a brake press operator for Kansas Instruments in Council Grove, KS for many years.  She also was a generous volunteer at the Council Grove Senior Center. 

Janice was an avid reader, especially murder mysteries.  Along with her sister Phyllis, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, and they would text each other to see who could guess the puzzle first.  Janice also liked bowling.  She loved teacup poodles, and enjoyed putting up bird feeders to attract hummingbirds.  Janice was always on Facebook. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lucille Christiason; her husband, Jimmie Masters; two sisters, Marlene Shepard and Phyllis Doll; and four brothers, Jerry, Robert, Richard, and Mike Christiason.

She is survived by a son, David Alan Venable and his wife, Peggy, of Houston, TX; a sister, Rita Christiason of Osage City, KS; 6 grandchildren, Lauren Mitro, Rowyn Smith, Danielle Hostettler, Emily Williams, Ayla Allinson, and Darian Venable; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Federated Church of Burlingame, Burlingame, KS.  Interment will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery in Council Grove, KS.  To celebrate Janice’s life, a visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S Topeka Ave, Burlingame, KS 66413.  Memorial contributions may be made to Council Grove Senior Center and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
