Housing, a proclamation, delinquent taxes, and updates are among the items on the Saline County Commission for Tuesday.
About the meeting
Saline County Commission is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. The meetings also can be viewed on Saline County’s YouTube channel:

Agenda items
Commissioners are scheduled to hear a presentation from the City of Salina concerning housing. Salina City Manager Mike Schrage and Community Development Services Director Lauren Driscoll are scheduled to provide an update on efforts to bring new rental housing to the community.
Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to consider a request to proclaim January 2023 as National Stalking Awareness Month.
Commissioners also are scheduled to consider appointing Michael Sutton to the Rural Fire District No. 5 Board of Trustees from Tuesday to Dec. 31, 2025.
In addition, commissioners are scheduled to consider appointing Brian Schwarz as the Saline County representative on the Salina Community Economic Development Organization, Inc.
Other items on the Saline County Commission agenda include the following.
●Consider BASE 2.0 Grant authorization
●Consider a request from the Saline County Local Emergency Planning Committee to sign two applications for the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant. The funds would be used to purchase rescue equipment for vehicle and rail accidents involving hazardous materials for Saline County Rural Fire District 5. Additionally, funds would be used to send three Salina Fire Department paramedics and one Salina Regional Health Center medical professional to Advance Hasmat Life Support Provider and Instructor Training. The total amount of grant funds to be requested is $57,305.
●Consider a guaranteed maximum price contract amendment for City-County Building renovations.
●Consider a resolution declaring certain delinquent personal property taxes to be dormant and uncollectible.
●Hear the fourth quarter Idle Fund report.
●Hear the engineering quarterly update.
●Hear County Administrator Phillip Smith-Hanes' update.
