CONCORDIA -- For the first time this season and the first time in her career, Cloud County Community College sophomore women's track and field athlete Marie Forbes has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Forbes won two events at the Washburn JUCO Challenge this past Friday, recording the top-throw in all of NJCAA Region VI this year in the weight throw with a mark of 18.68 meters. In the shot put, Forbes would record an event-winning throw of 12.73 meters which ranks second in both the NJCAA Region VI and the nation.&nbsp;

It marks the second time this season that a Cloud County women's track and field athlete has been named athlete of the week as Forbes joins Mercy Ntia-Obong who was named Athlete of the Week on Jan. 26.
