The arrest of a Salina man on two requested counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under age 14 was the result of an incident reported in November 2021.
Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that Barry A. Fritz, 59, of Salina, was arrested Thursday.
According to the USD 419 web site, Fritz worked as Canton-Galva elementary school physical education teacher. On Monday, the school board suspended him with pay pending further investigation, according to school principal Jim Struber.
Hanus said an officer was called to Salina Regional Health Center on Nov. 24, 2021, for the report of a sexual offense with a person under the age of 14. It was reported that the incident, which included inappropriate sexual activity, occurred at a south Salina residence.
Between the time the incident was reported and the arrest, members of the Salina Police Department Detective Division were investigating the case, Hanus said.
