A Salina woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after she was found to be driving on the wrong side of U.S. Highway 81 and Interstate 135 early Sunday morning.
Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that deputies were first alerted to the report of a driver southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 81 north of Interstate 70 shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday. By the time deputies located the red 2010 Toyota Camry, it was southbound in the northbound lanes of I-135 near the State Street exit.
Deputies were able to successfully deploy stopsticks near the W. Crawford Street exit, and the car came to a stop just south of that exit.
Soldan said the driver, Monica Befort, 32, of Salina, was arrested on the requested charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
