On Saturday morning a Phillipsburg man and his 11-year-old passenger were taken to Salina Regional Health Center following a multiple-vehicle accident on Interstate 135.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning the wreck occurred on Saturday, July 27 at approximately 10 a.m. near the Interstate 70/Interstate 135 interchange.

"There was a semi-truck westbound on I-70 that exited on I-135 southbound. He's coming up the loop to go south and there's three vehicles already on I-135," Soldan said. "One vehicle in the passing lane and there's two in the driving lane."

Soldan continued. "The truck starts to merge. The guy behind the first vehicle in the driving lane slows way down. The guy in the passing lane isn't paying attention to what is going on and the second vehicle doesn't notice this guy slowed down but when he does, he whips over into the passing lane and gets rear-ended, "Soldan said.

The vehicle that switched lanes and was struck from behind was a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Zachary Bogart of Phillipsburg.

Bogart and his 11-year-old passenger were taken via EMS to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of neck and shoulder pain.
