SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Kansas Wesleyan Men's Volleyball was tripped up by the Dordt Defenders in straight sets – 25-17, 25-12, 25-12 – on Thursday night at De Witt Gym in GPAC action.

The Coyotes led 3-1 in the opening set, but Dordt came back to take a 10-6 lead. KWU got back within a point at 13-12, but a three point surge by Dordt made it 16-12. The Coyotes trailed 20-15 when the Defenders would score five of the last seven to take the first set.

Dordt jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the second set and the Coyotes could not recover from the fast start, falling 25-12.

KWU was within a point early in the third at 4-3, but three straight by Dordt made it 7-3 and the Coyotes got no closer than four the rest of the way. It was 12-8 after a block from Frank Kassem (FR/Miami, Fla.) and Christian Stevens (SR/Abilene, Kan.), but Dordt closed out the match on a 13-4 run.

Victor Loya (SO/El Paso, Texas) led the Coyotes with eight kills while Christopher Perez (FR/Denver, Colo.) had five. Colton Sessions (FR/West Palm Beach, Fla.) had 11 assists. Jerry Chablay (FR/South Hackensack, N.J.) and Loya had six digs each. Kassem had two assisted blocks.

Wesleyan is back on the road for its final conference road match on Saturday at sixth-ranked Jamestown. KWU closes GPAC play with home matches against Central Christian next Wednesday and Morningside on March 17. KWU plays in the William Penn Tournament on March 4-5 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
