Kevin Moeder, 63, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home.

Kevin was born November 18, 1960, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Thomas J. “Tommy” and Elenora (Herrman) Moeder.  He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.  A 1978 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, Kevin furthered his education by receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agri Business from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, in 1982.  He was Sr. Vice President, andthe Regional Branch Manager for Farmers Bank and Trust, La Crosse, Kansas, for 38 years before his recent retirement.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2970, where he served as a past Grand Knight, and a member of the Virgil C. Dechant 4th Degree Assembly 3550, where he served as past Faithful Navigator, all of La Crosse, Kansas.  He was the chairman of the Locust Grove Village Board of Trustees from June 2013 to April 2024.  Kevin also served as a member of the Fort Hays State University Alumni Board from 2006 to 2014.

Kevin enjoyed golfing, being outdoors, and in his younger years, playing softball.  He loved watching sports of any kind, and was the “go to” person if you needed a sports fact or statistic.  His granddaughters, Emrie and Ella were the light of his life and brought him so much joy.  

On August 15, 1981, he married Cheryl Mendenhall at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. 

Survivors include:  his wife, Cheryl Moeder, La Crosse, Kansas; two sons, Matthew Moeder (Ashley), La Crosse, Kansas, and Marcus Moeder, Hutchinson, Kansas; twogranddaughters, Emrie Moeder, and Ella Moeder; four brothers, Larry Moeder (Deanna), Manhattan, Kansas, Leon Moeder (Susan), Wichita, Kansas, Kurt Moeder, La Crosse, Kansas, and Duane Moeder (Linda), La Crosse, Kansas; one sister in law, Jody Gasper (Terry), Victoria, Kansas; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father and mother in law, Jack and Sharon Mendenhall.

Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.  

Church visitation will be Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:20 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating.  Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family request memorials to the La Crosse Elementary Playground, La Crosse, Kansas.
