
Jimmie Odom Hale, 77, died on July 11, 2020. He was born May 4, 1943 to Sam Nay Hale and Versa Odom Hale in Memphis, Texas. He later graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas before moving to Kansas. He worked in Wichita, and later Salina, for Sears from 1973 to 1992. He married his late wife, Estella, on August 13, 1983 until her death on March 26, 2011. He retired from the Salina Emergency Dispatch in 2007, after working there for nearly 14 years.
Jim was the best dad ever. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family in Salina and would frequently talk to visitors, whether in person or on his handy iPad or cell phone. The sound of his TV was often heard with a baseball game or a game show in the background.
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Hale Leachman of Albuquerque, NM, and nieces, Jolynn Bush of Albuquerque, NM and Sherri Atchison of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Amy Cahill, and son-in-law, Dan, and grandchildren, Hayden, Haley and Hudson, all of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Monica Brede, and son-in-law, Dave, and grandchildren, Logan and Truman, all of Topeka, Kan.; son, Tom Hale, and daughter-in-law, Jaisalynn, and grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Sara, Hanna, and Pheaona, and great-granddaughter, Olivia, all of Smithville, Mo.; daughter, Gwen Shogren, and grandchildren, Caitlin, Chelsea, Taylor and Matthew, and grandson-in-law, Dayton, all of Edmond, Okla.; and cousins.
Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 a.m. Friday July 17, 2020. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. all at Ryan Mortuary. Masks will be required. Private inurnment will be next to his late wife, Estella, in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
