U.S. Senator Jerry Moran released the following statement in response to Kansas State University President Richard Linton’s announcement that he plans to leave the university:

“During his four years at Kansas State University, President Linton has immersed himself in the Wildcat community and worked to bring new educational and research opportunities to K-State. Upon becoming president, he set an ambitious goal to expand K-State’s agriculture footprint, and just last month, cut the ribbon on the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center on K-State’s campus. Dr. Linton’s vision for K-State has helped drive enrollment and led to record-breaking investments for the university.

“His time in Kansas hasn’t always been easy, as he faced a cancer diagnosis in 2023. However, while supported by the Manhattan community, Dr. Linton continued serving the university while undergoing treatment, showing tremendous strength and commitment.

“I've appreciated working alongside Dr. Linton and enjoyed our sunrise walks around campus as we discussed our shared goal of making certain Kansas is a place where students can get a quality education and build a meaningful career. I think Rich has helped accomplish that, and I am grateful for his service to K-State and Kansas.”
