Salina man accused of violent attack on a woman

SALINA —Just before 10p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a physical domestic incident  in the 1200 block of Gypsum in Saina, according to Police Captain James Feldman.

Contact was made with a 44-year-old woman who reported getting into an argument with a known associate identified as 40-year-old Demetrius Carruthers of Salina.

The woman reported getting into an argument with Carruthers who struck her several times and pushed her to the ground. Carruthers then tore off a necklace with a pendant the victim was wearing and left the area with the it.

Officers located Carruthers in the area of Stapler and Connecticut a short time later. As officers attempted to place Carruthers into custody, he attempted to flee and was tackled. Carruthers continued to be resistant. Carruthers was booked into the Saline County on requested charges of Robbery, Domestic Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, and Interference with Law Enforcement. The broken chain to the necklace was located at the scene, however the pendant was not recovered, according to Feldman.
