A medical issue is believed to be the cause of a single-vehicle accident Monday night in south Salina.

An eastbound 2014 Dodge Journey driven by Laval Barkley, 40, of Salina, jumped the curb, drove through a yard, hit a railroad tie, struck the southwest edge of the house at 2621 E. Key Avenue, struck a trailer, and a privacy fence, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The impact caused the trailer to strike the house at 2627 E. Key Avenue, he added.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Barkley told police that he had a seizure and didn't remember anything about the accident, Forrester said. He was checked out by EMS and released.

The Journey had major front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

No damage estimates were available for the property that was struck.
