⚾️ Royals Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher Nate Pearson from Astros

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City Royals announced this morning they have acquired right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson from the Houston Astros for minor league right-handed pitcher Max Martin. Pearson was designated for assignment on Sunday.

To make room for Pearson on the 40-man roster, outfield Kameron Misner has been designated for assignment.

Pearson, 29, began the year on the Injured List and made his season debut on May 20. In 16 relief appearances with the Astros, he went 1-0 with 1 save and a 3.60 ERA (8 ER in 20.0 IP). He has pitched in parts of six seasons in the Majors, including 2020-21 and 2023-24 with Toronto, 2024-25 with the Cubs and 2026 with Houston.

Pearson was selected by Toronto in the 1st round (28th overall) of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the College of Central Florida.
