Salina Police Department (SPD) is investigating a theft at the Phillips 66 gas station at 2140 W. Crawford St., where over $2,000 in cash was reported stolen.

According to SPD Cpt. James Feldman, at approximately 10:45 p.m. on November 10, a gas station clerk stepped outside to take out the trash. When he returned to the store and resumed his duties, he noticed after about 15 minutes that the cash register was open and money was missing.

"He said no one was in the store at the time. He hadn't seen anybody, and they're estimating that more than $2,000 worth of cash was stolen from the store," Feldman said.

SPD officers are working to determine if there is surveillance footage available that could provide additional information on the theft.

Salina Post will update this story as new information becomes available.
