The first round of the NCAA Tournament featured some big upsets, starting with No. 15 Oral Roberts knocking off No. 2 Ohio State.
Kevin Obanor scored seven of Oral Roberts’ 11 points in overtime, including two free throws with 13 seconds left to lead a 75-72 win over the Buckeyes.
No. 13 seed North Texas pulled off a 78-69 overtime win over No. 4 Purdue, scoring the first 11 points of the extra session.
Oregon State claimed this year’s first 12-seed-over-a-No. 5, hitting seven 3s in the second half and beating Tennessee 70-56.
No. 11 seed Syracuse held sixth-seeded San Diego State without a field goal for nearly a quarter of the game as the Orange bet the Aztecs 78-62. Buddy Boeheim hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 30 points.
