Kansas City, MO — The Kansas City Royals, in partnership with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), today released economic projections for a Crossroads ballpark, which includes a breakdown of construction and annual economic impact.

The development phase of this project will spur one-time construction benefits, including 26,000 jobs created, $1.8 billion in labor income and $3.8 billion in total economic impact. Across perpetual economic benefits, the first year of operation for the Crossroads ballpark district is expected to net 5,400 jobs with $300 million in labor income from these jobs, and $800 million in economic output from district operations. On an annual basis over time, this district will realize 8,400 new jobs supported by the development and its ripple effects, $440 million in labor income from these jobs, and $1.2 billion in economic output from district operations.

Once complete, the new ballpark district is expected to drive $79 million in new tax revenues annually for the area through a combination of incremental ballpark spending, new district activity and spending by visitors. That is broken down by $39 million in tax revenue from new activity in the ballpark district, $25 million in tax revenue from new visitors spending on their visits to Kansas City, and $15 million in incremental tax revenue from Royals games.

“Our current situation is unique in many ways. But one of the most impactful is that The K’s location minimizes the economic impact of a baseball team in particular,” said Brooks Sherman, Kansas City Royals President of Business Operations. “This project will provide a huge economic boost for our region, with high impact perpetually as well as an enhanced concentrated benefit during the construction period. The end result: Meaningful new revenue impact for the county, city and state, and uplift for every segment of our community. This is incremental in a big way.”
