The Salina South High School Theater Department presents its fall play titled "Figments" on November 2-5 at Salina South High School, 730 E. Magnolia Road.

The play is written by Rick Jacobs, a playwright with a wild imagination -- perhaps too wild! As he attempts to overcome a massive case of writer's block, the audience sees four figments of his imagination play out in the opening scene of his next murder mystery.

He -- and they -- are interrupted by the arrival of his neighbor, Loni, with whom Rick is secretly, and helplessly, in love. The source of Rick's trouble with women, his domineering mother, arrives on the scene (along with her imagined double) carrying a burial urn with Mr. Jacobs' ashes inside.

As Rick's thoughts bounce between his frustrating love life and his play, the real people and the figments of Rick's imagination clash riotously with the fictional characters in his play. They enact their scenes tipsy when Rick has one too many, hung over like Rick the morning after, and even act out the scene as Mama would write it. If you've ever wondered what goes through a playwright's mind, this farcical comedy reveals all -- hilariously.

"Since this is my first year here at South, I wanted to pick something I knew students would buy into and find funny," said Shilind Wheaton, Theatre teacher at Salina South High School. "I think it's hysterical and I hope we have a great turnout for the show."

Saturday, November 4 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Sunday, November 5 at 3 p.m.

TICKETS —Get your tickets online by clicking here or tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for senior citizens, and $5 for students.

Parking Information

All performances are at Salina High School South, 730 E. Magnolia Rd., Salina, KS 67401 in the auditorium. Enter for parking from either Magnolia Rd. or from Edward St. (just south of the school building). The auditorium entrance is on the southwest side of the school.
