KWU women's tennis falls to Sterling, 4-3

Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis dropped a 4-3 decision to the Sterling Warriors on Saturday at Salina Central High School.

KWU would drop the doubles point as Sterling picked up wins at No. 2 as Rachel Carlson and April Swartz beat Michaela Crowe (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) and Eliza Camp (FR/Winfield, Kan.) 7-5, and Natalie Henning and Brooklyn Kuhn beat Avery Soto (FR/Pueblo, Colo.) and Kaitlyn Wrye (FR/Olathe, Kan.) 6-1 at No. 3. KWU did win one doubles match at No. 1 as Karley Benson (SR/Salina, Kan.) and Zofia Selwesiuk (SR/Wroclaw, Poland) beat Nicole Marin and Camilla Castro 6-2.

The teams would split the singles matches. KWU got wins at No. 1 as Selwesiuk beat Marin 6-2, 6-7, 6-2; Crowe at No. 3 over Kuhn 6-1, 6-0; and Soto over Henning at No. 5 7-5, 6-3. Sterling got wins at No. 2 as Carlson beat Benson 6-3, 3-6, 6-1; at No. 4 as Castro beat Camp 2-6, 6-3, 6-3; and at No. 6 as Swartz beat Wrye 6-3, 6-4.

The Coyotes are back in action on Wednesday at Friends, and at Tabor on Saturday.
