A Salina man reported a burglary to Salina Police Department (SPD) officers after witnessing a woman walk into his hotel room and steal various personal items before walking away.

SPD Capt. David Villanueva said that between 5:24 and 5:28 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 38-year-old Sandra Sekala allegedly walked into a 57-year-old Salina man's room at Budget King Inn on North Broadway Boulevard and stole about $179 in personal items.

"So the story goes that the man is in his room with the door ajar. Allegedly, the suspect came into the room, started taking some items, clothing and other items, put one of the items on and walked out," Villanueva said.

Sekala allegedly stole a t-shirt, a vape pen, a drawstring bag, some cigarettes, a coat, a few other clothing items and a battery pack.

Villanueva said officers recovered all the items after finding Sekala near a bus stop outside the hotel. Officers arrested Sekala for aggravated burglary and booked her into the Saline County Jail.
