Richard L. Jones Sr., 85, of Burlingame, KS passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at Brookside Health & Rehab in Overbrook, KS.  He was born November 8, 1938 at Burlingame. KS, the son of Samuel E. and Margaret (King) Jones.  He attended Osage County Grade Schools and graduated from Osage City High School. 

He worked for Sommer Bros Seed Company; Good Year Tire & Rubber Company and retired from Hamm Quarries.  He also farmed and raised livestock. 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a 55+ year member of Fairplain Grange.

He married Dixie Renyer on August 19, 1967.  They shared over 44 years of marriage before her passing on November 8, 2011.  To this union two sons were born, Richard L. Jones Jr. Overbrook, KS and Samuel C. Jones Lebo, KS. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Jones and two sisters, Deloris Miles and Helen Atkins.

Surviving family includes his two sons; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia; granddaughters, Kayla, Holly, Feryn and Baylea; grandsons, Chase, Riley and Carson Jones; ten great-grandchildren;  sisters, Mary K. Johnson of Topeka, KS and Margaret “Peggy” Whitener and husband Harry of Perry, KS; several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services and inurnment will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Prairie Center Cemetery, 7757 W. 125th Street, Burlingame, KS 66413.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka, KS or Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
