July 9, 1943 - February 22, 2022

Barbara A. Workman, age 78, of Concordia, KS, left this earthly life on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home in Concordia, KS.  She was born on July 9, 1943 in Concordia, KS to Leonard W. and Mary L. (Spratlen) Chartier.

Barbara attended Concordia schools.  She married James C. Workman on June 25, 1960 in Fairbury, NE.

She worked as a beautician, waitress at the Moose Lodge but was most proud of her work as a dispatcher for Workman Transport, Inc.  She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Concordia and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose #1428.  She and Jim loved to travel the country and she was a big KU basketball, KC Chiefs and Nascar fan.

She is survived by her husband Jim Workman, Concordia, KS; daughters Mary Walker (Ronnie), Concordia, KS and Crystal Perrin, (Lance Salazar), Concordia, KS; grandchildren Stephanie Ryals (Jerrod), Christopher Walker (Jessica), Colton Halfhide, Ciara Halfhide, Riley Halfhide (fiancé Josie Czpanskiy) and Ariana Perrin; great-grandchildren Paxton, Gavyn, Landon and Brooklyn Ryals, Serenity Walker, Peacelyn Walker and Khalani Jo; sister Betty Menor (Tom), Poyne, AR and special friends Sharalyn Coke and Sharon Roy.

She was preceded by a son, James P. “Jimmy” Workman; her parents; sisters Mary Chartier and Patricia Miller and a brother, Ronald Chartier.

It was Barbara’s wishes to be cremated and memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, with Pastor Bob Burns officiating.  Burial of the cremains will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.  Friends may sign the register book from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and friends are welcome to stop by the house and visit with the family. 

The family suggests memorials to American Legion Auxiliary or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
