A Salina man who escaped custody early Thursday morning remains on the lam, however, a number of tips about the case have come into the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Saline County Sheriff's Captain Jim Hughes said this morning that sheriff's office personnel are following up on a number of tips concerning Steven Moss and his whereabouts.

Moss escaped from the back of a Saline County Sheriff's vehicle while it was at the sallyport of the Saline County Jail at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday. A foot chase ensued, but Moss was able to elude law enforcement personnel and escaped.

Moss had been arrested in connection to a multi-county chase that began in Salina when a Saline County deputy noticed an expired license plate on the pickup Moss was driving. The pursuit ended in Ellsworth County near the intersection of Old Highway 40 and 11th Road west of Ellsworth, where Lincoln County Sheriff's personnel and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were able to apprehend Moss and a passenger in the pickup, Shaylynn Koch, 27, of Salina.
