Melva Arlene Schultz Sears McGuin went peacefully in her home to be with her Lord on October 8, 2021. She was born on May 28, 1937 to Walter E. and V. Mildred Stanhope Schultz in Lebanon, Kansas, the oldest daughter of seven children.

Surviving siblings include brother Garry (Justina) Schultz of Council Bluffs, IA, sisters Donna Conrad of Smith Center, and Nila Smith of Lindsborg.

Preceding her in death were brothers Paul and Loren, and sister Karen.

Melva married Cleo Sears in 1956, later divorcing. To this union were born four children. She married Michael McGuin in 1972, later divorcing. To this union was born a daughter, and later adopting her two granddaughters.

Having been a cook in various establishments throughout her life, she loved to cook for her family and spending time with them. She was famous for her homemade noodles, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin pie. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter were the light of her life.

Along with her siblings, Melva is also survived by her children Rodney Sears and Regina (Al) Benjamin of Wichita, Kelly Sears of Logansport, IN, Teresa (Paul) Moncrieff, currently stationed in Germany, Kim Carlton, Jennifer (Brian) Greenwell of Beloit, and Rebecca (Jason) Matyas of Salina; and grandchildren, Angela (Thomas) Klingenberg of Byron, GA, Ashley (Gabe) Diaz of Wichita, Rachel (Andy) Fox of Madison, IN, and Joel Sears of Wabash, IN. She also leaves to mourn 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Preceding her in death along with her siblings, are her parents; one great-grandson; and one son-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 14 at the Beloit First Christian Church, and burial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with family present from 5-6:30 Pp.m. Wednesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Church or Solomon Valley Hospice.
