KWU men's tennis drops match with Texas A&M-Texarkana

Kansas Wesleyan men's tennis played a tightly contested match with Texas A&M-Texarkana on Friday at Salina Central High School. The Eagles would come away with a 4-3 win over the Coyotes.

Wesleyan picked up the doubles point as KWU won No. 2 doubles as Bryce Ware (FR/Amarillo, Texas) and Garrison Wright (FR/Maize, Kan.) beat Fernando Martinez and Felipe De La Carrera 7-6, the deciding point coming in a 8-6 tiebreaker. Braeden Lewis (FR/Edmond, Okla.) and Rodrigo Vera (SR/Lima, Peru) also got a win at No. 3 doubles over Kevin Tsati-Onla and Iker Alonso 6-4. Alejandro Oviedo and Mauricio Velasco beat Daniel Harkin (FR/Manhattan, Kan.) and Alex Sherer (FR/Rossville, Kan.) at No. 1 6-3.

In singles, KWU got wins at No. 2 as Ware beat Tsati-Onla 6-3, 7-6, needing an 8-5 tiebreak win to win the second set. KWU also won at No. 3 singles as Sherer beat Velasco in a tiebreaker super set 3-6, 7-6 (8-5), 10-7.

Texarkana would win at No. 1 singles as Oviedo beat Harkin 6-1, 6-4; at No. 4 as Martinez beat Wright on a retirement; at No. 5 as De La Carrerra beat Lewis 6-2, 6-1; and at No. 6 as Alonso beat Vera 6-0, 6-3.
