The Salina Art Center's 12 Empty Bowls exhibit and collection initiative proved beneficial for the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank.
Through Sunday, the 12 Empty Bowls exhibit drew attention to food insecurity in Saline County. Not only were a number of bowls created by local artists auctioned to benefit the food bank, but art center patrons were encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items for the organization.
In the end the auction brought in $1,116, according to a post on the art center's Facebook page. Additionally, $1,310 in cash and gift cards were donated, as were the following items.
67 packages of pasta
67 cans of meat
51 containers of laundry detergent
50 cans/jars pasta sauce
39 treats (cake mixes & puddings)
23 boxes of MacNCheese
20 sacks of flour
13 bottles of cooking oil
8 cans of vegetables
2 cans of soup
"Thank you so much to everyone who donated for our 12 Empty Bowls project for the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank!" the art center noted in the post.
