Melvin Wilson Sr., 67, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Melvin was born on February 16, 1958, in Salina, Kansas to the late Reola and Allen Wilson Sr. Melvin was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Melvin dedicated over three decades of his life working at Beechcraft Aviation, where he was employed from 1991 until his retirement in 2023. He was known for his strong work ethic, warm personality, and his ability to brighten the room with laughter.

Outside of work, Melvin enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – especially fishing and playing chess. His sense of humor and joking comments lifted many a moment. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reola and Allen Wilson, Sr., and his brother, Sammie Wilson, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Melvin Wilson, Jr., of Lenexa, Kansas; his daughter, Joy Anderson (Randy), of Grandview, Missouri; and eleven beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by eight sisters, Margaret Moore, of Overland Park, Shirley Jordan, of Salina, Alma Chamberlin, of Salina, Talley Miller, of Columbia, Missouri, Tenne Jackson, of Anniston, Alabama, Sharon Thompson, of Lenexa, Kathleen Wilson, and Pauline Thompson, both of Salina; brothers, Gabe Wilson, of Kansas City, Missouri, Allen Wilson, Jr., of Salina, David Wilson, of Kansas City, Missouri, Gregory Wilson, of Salina and Odell Wilson, of Salina.

Visitation will be 1- 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, 1920 E Crawford, Salina.

Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 11, at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 215 S Chicago St., Salina. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
