Edwin M. Wheeler

Ed’s life began on November 24, 1951, in Topeka. He is the son of Edwin M. and Rosalie (Myers) Wheeler, Sr. Ed received his Juris Doctorate degree from Washburn University in Topeka. He previously practiced law at Wheeler and Wheeler in Marion before becoming Court Trustee for the 8th Judicial District for 17 years, retiring in 2021. Ed also served as the Marion city attorney and the Marion County attorney. He served on the Marion Food Bank board and was active in the Marion Presbyterian Church leadership. He was an avid bike rider and really enjoyed hiking in the mountains. Ed loved being a grandfather and all the joy that has brought. He was united in marriage to Cheri Ochs on February 14, 1991, at the Marion Presbyterian Church. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Cheri of Marion; children John (Megan) Wheeler of Marion, Jason (Lori) Wheeler of Marion, Zach (Sarah Marten) Bauman of Kansas City, Skylar Bauman of Wichita: grandchildren Morgan (Aubrey) Wheeler of Marion, Corbin (Sarah) Wheeler of Lenexa, Burton Harshman of Fort Smith, AR and Jori McCall of Wichita, great-grandson Wyatt Wheeler of Marion; brother Christopher Wheeler of Bethesda, MD and niece Natalie Wheeler of Madison, WI. Ed passed away suddenly on December 18, 2023, in Marion. He is preceded in death by his parents. His family will gather with friends on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Marion Presbyterian Church for his memorial service. He will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery following the service. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
