If you plan to travel on Interstate 135 (I-135) this weekend, you need to be aware of planned construction work.
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will temporarily close I-135 on Friday from mile marker 58-60 for bridge replacement.
The bridge is located approximately one-half mile south of the U.S. Highway 56 (U.S. 56) exit.
Northbound and southbound I-135 are scheduled to close at 7 p.m. Friday. Southbound I-135 is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on Saturday and northbound I-135 is scheduled to reopen by 7 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting. Traffic will follow the signed detour through McPherson via U.S. 56, Main Street, and Kansas Highway 61. No oversized loads will be allowed on the detour.
Dondlinger and Sons Construction Co. Inc. of Wichita is the primary contractor for this $2.3 million project. The contractor has scheduled the bridge replacement to be completed in January 2021, weather permitting.
