The Saline County Sheriff's Office wants to make sure holiday travelers in the county observe safe driving practices.
From Saturday through Nov. 29, sheriff's office personnel will join a number of law enforcement agencies across the state, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, for a Thanksgiving Safe Arrival traffic enforcement campaign.
While all Kansas traffic laws will be enforced, the campaign will aggressivelh enforce the state's occupant protection laws, according to information from the sheriff's office.
"Keep in mind that if you are going for a drive anywhere at all, don't even consider putting the vehicle into drive until you and all passengers are properly restrained, PERIOD!" said Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan.
Although the objective of the campaign is to target unbelted and incorrectly restrained people in vehicles, sheriff's office personnel also will provide education that serves as a reminder that buckling up saves lives.
A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation will support the sheriff's office overtime enforcement efforts during the campaign.
