We're in for a pleasant --for February -- afternoon, but frigid weather is on the horizon.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, it will be mostly sunny and mild this afternoon with high temperatures in the 50s across central and southern Kansas. Likewise, breezy and mild weather is on tap for Wednesday across central and eastern Kansas with highs in the 50s.
Temperatures, however, will begin to fall after that, with windy and cooler weather on tap for Thursday across central and eastern Kansas, NWS noted. Nearly steady temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s can be expected across central Kansas.
Much colder air will invade Kansas this weekend with temperatures well below normal for early February. There is a chance for light snow or flurries Saturday with bitter cold wind chills Saturday night, NWS forecast. Little if any snow accumulation is expected.
