Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball coasted to a straight set win over the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Friday night at Mabee Arena as part of Homecoming 2025. The Coyotes won 25-18, 25-21, 25-19 to complete the sweep.
KWU got back over .500 improving its record to 12-11 overall and 6-3 in the KCAC, meanwhile Southwestern fell to 8-16 overall, 2-8 in the KCAC.
The Coyotes raced out to a 7-2 lead in the first set, but Southwestern came back within a point at 8-7. Four straight by the Coyotes made it 12-7, and the lead later extended to 20-14. KWU led 23-16 before Southwestern got two points, but the Coyotes got kills by Kylee Harris and a setter dump kill by Ryleigh Stuhlsatz to close out the first set.
Southwestern led 3-1 to start the second set, but the Coyotes, resilient in nature came back to lead 6-5. It was tied 8-8 when the Coyotes rattled off three in a row to take an 11-8 lead. Southwestern came back and took the lead again and led 14-12 when the Coyotes put together a 4-0 run to take a 16-14 lead. A service ace by Malia Smith extended the lead to 19-15 and the Coyotes had set point at 24-17 before the Moundbuilders strung together four in a row. Camryn Lewis ended the set with a kill.
In the third, Southwestern again led early with the Coyotes coming back. Southwestern tied things at 14 when the Coyotes got the room they needed, scoring four straight to take an 18-14 lead. The Coyotes extended the lead to 22-16 before Southwestern scored three to make it 22-19. The Coyotes closed it out with three points to win the match.
Wesleyan hit a solid .260 as a team as Kylee Harris' nine kills led the way. Joey Pennington had eight kills while hitting .467 for the match. Blair Pennington had 16 assists and Stuhlsatz had 15. Tristyn Hedman had 16 digs. Kate Bebout had three blocks.
