The Southeast of Saline softball team rolled to two more victories over Ellsworth on Tuesday to clinch the NCAA league title.

With wins of 14-1 and 16-6, SES moves to 14-4 on the year and remains undefeated in league play.

The Lady Trojans wasted no time jumping all over Ellsworth in game one, scoring five in the first, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth to secure a 14-1 run-rule victory.

Carly Commerford and Bryna Baird muted the Bearcat lineup, combining to allow just one run on five hits with five strikeouts from Commerford on the day.

Maddie Harris had an excellent 2/4 day at the plate, driving in three runs in the Trojan win.

Not content with one mercy rule victory on the day, SES kept the pressure on in game two, slowly and methodically striking for 16 runs to take a 16-6 win in six innings.

Ellsworth was able to capitalize on a few defensive miscues by the Trojans, with three of their six runs coming home as the unearned variety, but it still wasn’t enough as Lexi Jacobson and Bryna Baird slammed the door shut.

In the second game, Jacobson and Chase Gilpin did a majority of the damage at the plate, driving in seven runs in eight at bats.

With the league title already in hand, the Lady Trojans will be back in action on Friday to close out their regular season with a home doubleheader against Russell.
