Kansas Wesleyan University is proud to announce the appointment of Megan Elliott as the new Softball Coach for the Coyotes according to Athletic Director Miguel Paredes.
Elliott comes to KWU after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D.
"I'm incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the softball program at Kansas Wesleyan University," Elliott said, "This is a special place with a strong sense of community, and I'm passionate about recruiting, building meaningful relationships, and helping our student-athletes grow both on the field and as people. I'm excited to get to work and build a competitive team that represents the university the right way on and off the field."
Elliott will take the lead of the program that was led by Daryl Hoelting for a majority of the 2026 season. Hoelting led the Coyotes to a 22-21 record and a 15-11 mark in the KCAC.
Hoelting will remain on staff as an assistant coach.
"Throughout the interview process Megan was outstanding," Paredes said. "She has the desire and drive to build a winning softball program here at KWU and ensure our team represents KWU to the highest standards both on and off the field. She's a proven recruiter and will use her prior experiences to her advantage."
While at Mayville, Elliott served as the primary recruiter on the coaching staff and also works with hitting and the infield.
Elliott joined the Comets staff in 2024 after a stellar senior season at Mayville State.
Elliott played four seasons at Doane (Neb.) under current Mayville State head coach Jordan Olson at first base and was a key member of the Tigers' line up. After graduating in 2023 from Doane with her Bachelors in Exercise Science she transferred to Mayville State University where she started her master's degree in education and played her COVID season at Mayville.
During her time as a Comet, Elliott broke the record for hits in a single season, getting her 55th hit vs. Dickinson State University. She ended up with 63 hits on the season, started all 47 games, racked up 6 home runs, 10 doubles and had a batting average of .420. Elliott was named NSAA First Team All-Conference, NSAA 2024 New Comer of the Year & named to the 2024 NSAA Gold Glove Team at first base.
