Salina Area Younglife, Crossroads Messenger, in partnership with St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, Crossroads Church and the Salina Youth Ministry Alliance presents the Youth Unified For Community: Dodgeball Tournament and T-Shirt Design contest Jan. 3 at the Salina Fieldhouse, 140 N. Fifth Street.

Tournament registration and the t-shirt design party will begin at 9 a.m. Participants in grades 6-8 will compete in one group, and grades 9-12 will compete in a separate group. Participants must be checked in by noon and the tournament will end at 5:30 p.m.

If you aren't interested in playing dodgeball or trying out your creative skills in the t-shirt decorating contest, but still want to donate to the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank, there will be a drive-through drop-off area for food donations.

Team registration information

Teams will consist of up to eight people with a minimum of six players and at least two females per team. The tournament is double elimination. An online registration form can be found here. Teams should wear shirts of the same color.

The tournament is supported by youth from local schools, home schooled children, and children from local youth groups. The school, church or organization with the most teams registered will receive $250 donated to a local charity of their choice. Winners of each division will also receive $250 to donate to a local charity of their choice. All children who are interested in helping design a t-shirt for Unity Among Youth are invited to come and are asked to provide two items to donate to the food bank.

The fee to participate in the tournament is for each player to donate two food items to the Salina Emergency Aid Food Bank. Team entries can also be e-mailed to Mike Fuller at [email protected] or dropped off at Messenger Total Promotions, 248 S. Santa Fe Avenue. If you have questions about the tournament, contact Fuller at (785) 342-4101.
