Police are investigating the theft of approximately $40,000 worth of items from a south Salina residence over the weekend.

A 32-year-old Salina man reported that sometime between 8 p.m. Friday and 11:45 a.m. Saturday, someone stole his blue 2017 Ford F-150 crew cab pickup from his driveway in the 700 block of Max Avenue, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning. The pickup had a Kansas veteran's tag of 62CMN, he added. A Sig Sauer 2022 9mm semi-automatic handgun was in the pickup.

According to Forrester, the keys to the pickup were on a table in the man's kitchen. Additionally, the man reported that a FN Scar 16, 5.56 caliber rifle with a Strike Force 400 zoom scope on it was taken from a closet in the house, Forrester noted.

Total loss was estimated at approximately $40,000, Forrester reported.
